    Sat, Jul 29 2017 @ 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm

After asking the pop rock trio “Popular Beat Combo” how they got their name, the band falls into laughter and explain, ”It’s a deliberately out-dated name that is used as a tongue-in-cheek synonym, or by someone to denigrate a pop group” They said that it was rumored to be coined in an English courtroom in the 1960s by a barrister in response to a judge's query (for the benefit of the court's records) as to who "The Beatles" were; the answer being "I believe they are a popular beat combo m’lud”.
So with that regal history and the fact that we all dig the word combo we were duly christen Popular Beat Combo.

The Members of Popular Beat Combo are Danny Sorentino - Guitar, harmonica, vocals
Robert Malta Bass , Vocals -Rick Cutler -Drums ,percussion and babe magnet

  • Soul Grease - $5 - Dancing

    Thu, Aug 03 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

From amidst the redwoods and oak trees of Sonoma County rises Soul Grease, fusing elements of Funk, Reggae, Pop, and Caribbean to create a uniquely original sound.

Soul Grease is both a band and a metaphor for how to live in a soul-satisfying way. As we live our lives, every human takes care of the bare necessities of life. Just as one need to maintain a car, home, or relationship, we also need to grease the gears of the soul to keep it singing. Soul Grease is anything that satisfies your soul and keeps it free and alive.

Soul Grease, the band, is an amalgamation of people who want to express the music in their soul. While not strictly playing 'Soul' or 'Greasy' music, all the songs created and played by Soul Grease are aimed at satisfying the soul and inspiring people to groove, move, and dance.

    Soul Grease is...

Steve Serbins (Drums), Bob Wachunas (Bass/Percussion/Vocals), John Gonsalves (Keyboard/Trumpet/Melodica/Vocals), Michael Zigler (Guitar/Vocals), Peter Langham (Saxophone), and Pete Macias (Trombone).

A Miracle Production [AMP] presents AFROFUNK EXPERIENCE returning to the Redwood Cafe Stage.

AfroBeat, AfroRock, Reggae & Original Bay Area Funk

    Special Guest, DJ Loisaida

Guitarist/Singer David James (Spearhead, The Coup, Beth Custer) brings his sinewy style to counter the funk-metal stylings of lead guitarist Ken House (H.P. Riot). The precise funk-rock drumming of Paul Oliphant (Afrolicious, Will Magid Trio) with Wendell Rand's (Afrolicious, Tracorum, Youssoupha Sidibe) muscular dance grooves keep the band tight, while saxophonist David Boyce (Broun Fellinis, The Supplicants) and trombonist Alan Williams (Manicato, Katdelic) wail, their horns producing a sound that encompasses outward-bound jazz, classic reggae, afrobeat and R&B. Percussionist B. Lee thickens and adds flavor to the mix, and on top of all this, recent addition Sandy House adds her sultry voice and powerful stage presence.
